If you wanna be totally leagal, you can even add a cat AFTER the flex pipe like for the V-6. Extending the wiring for the O2 sensor should cost next to nothing if you're handy enough to use a $7 soldering iron.

Easy for you to say........my whole downpipe was fabricated PLUS both o2 sensors had to have bungs made.....what a PITA!

Awrite Hector. You got some good gains out of the setup I see - very cool. Right now I'm just trying to find out if the Contour setup is similar to the ZX2 under the car so we can perhaps make use of some aftermarket parts. I have a ZX2 to compare, but I need the pictures of a Zetec Contour under the car as described. If you or one of the other CEGers reading this thread can send along some pictures, we'd all appreciate it...

Did you start with the 4-1 race header for a ZX2?
Were the headers designed for a Focus?

Need input & photos.

Mine was for a ZX2.....both the ZX2 and Focus downpipes are routed the wrong way around the oil pan....our oil pan on the Contour is "switched around" not to mention the o2 sensor bung on the header originially was directly next to the a/c condensor so the top o2 sensor wouldn't fit.

Cool, progress. Not good news, but progress. The research continues, and I recon we wait for the CC or ZXtuner headers to hit the market. Seems those will be the best bet rather than trying to fab something to fit.

Thanks a million for the info!

The flexpipe was relocated along with the cat.

is there enough room to add a cat...looking under the car and with the space of where the flexpipe is now and the downpipe & cat...doesn't seem like theres enough room.

As suggested, a main high-flow cat can be installed after the flex pipe. The main cat is pretty far back on the Duratec engines and does a good job of scrubbing the exhaust.
