So I finally have found a clay bar and now have a question. Is it supposed to be soft? It's like it has melted or something. I was under the impression that it is supposed to be like a bar, not a gooey sorta hard thing. TIA, Mike

The clay bar is soft and plyable, like a kneadable eraser. Make sure you turn the bar over on itself lots so you don't rub the junk you took off all over your paint and create swirls. Clay bars are amazing! Good luck.

Thanks guys, I was thinking it was kinda weird but wanted to make sure. It only took me like a year to find the friggin thing.
I can neither confirm nor deny any details of the alleged Amber Project. It is possible that my sig has been hacked and what you see is not really there. muahaha

Another "tip" for the clay bar is to break it into a couple pieces. This way, if you happen to drop it on the ground and it gets all dirty, you can just throw away that small piece instead of the whole thing

The clay bar is used when your paint isn't very smooth to the touch anymore, like after you wash it and you feel this "grit" still on the paint surface. It removes the embeded contaminents from your paints surface so when you wax your not putting that clean, new wax onto a "gritty" surface. This will net you "professional" results and you'll be amazed you went w/o it for so long Once again, thanks to APT for showing me the light!

Should feel about as soft as silly putty. It shouldn't be oozing or anything like that.
