Thanks for the suggestions. I will try to clean the filter on the fuel pump first and the main fuel filter - cheapest option.

This isn't your problem, but I will mention it anyway FYI.
My brother recently had a hard start problem with his '99 Camaro.
After consulting the local dealership, it turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator.
He changed it and now it starts fine.

The gas cap is meant to keep fuel vapor from being released to the atmosphere. The vapor under pressure is routed to the carbon cannister, and later sucked into the engine and burned. Fresh air enters the gas cap through a small bleed valve to prevent vacuum in the tank. Excessive vacuum in the gas tank lowers available fuel pressure.

Remove the back seat and the cover on the floor. Disconnect and pull the pump through the hole. There are upper and lower intake ports which have a screen and filter sock. Clean these and reinstall the pump.

Fuel pressure is checked at the Schraeder fitting on the fuel line near the engine. This is the same fitting as your tires have.

I do have this problem all the time, but it is worst and most noticeable when fuel is low. You might have the same problem. At WOT and high rpm's it is not noticeable.

Had this problem on my mom's SE.

New fuel pump installed. Problem gone.

If your hesitation occurs when the fuel is low and progressivly gets worse the lower it goe,s then I would say it is a fuel pump problem. I just had mine replaced at 45,000 miles. The hesitation on mine turned into bucking, but since the fuel pump was replacement I have had no such problem. I still have the slight hesitation when I try to get on it hard witrh low rpms. I'm not sure what this problem is. The tour almost acts like it is waiting for the secondaries to open before it is ready to go. If this is your problem I would love to also find out a solution.
