Austin's main traffic problem is the tree huggers put their heads in the ground like the proverbial Ostrich and refused to accept that the city was growing. Now with over 1 million people, they still have no loop(Mopac is not a loop). The only way to get from S. Austin to N. Austin is I35. I lived there in the late 80's and it was great. I move back to Cedar Park in the late 90's and 183 was a nightmare. The city has grown too fast for the infrastructure.

You would do best to avoid any drive through Round Rock on I-35 at any time. Try Buda, Elgin or Manor for cheap apartments.
BTW- cheap and Austin don't go together.

You definitely want to avoid the N. Austin traffic if possible. The I35/183 interchange is a nightmare. $500 a month is going to be tough for a nice 1 bedroom. What part of Austin is your shop located? Let me get on the MLS and ALS and see what I can find for you. If you are going to consider a commute from Belton, then you might as well live in San Marcos. It is a hell of a lot more fun than Belton.

San Marcos is a cool small town for a pub crawl.

lol, well since we have only gotten together once since I have been here, I dont think I am going to be hurting our meets any
And who knows, I might decide to stay here. I was just thinking about moving. Houston has kinda lost its appeal though.
