Interestingly enough I was contacted by Bose earlier this year about an engineering position they had open in Southwest Arizona, on the border with California & Mexico.

During the course of this interview, the Bose HR rep stated that the actual production of their "transducers" (as she continually referred to them) was done in a maquilladora (sp?) facility in Mexico & part of my responsibilities was to learn to speak Spanish so as to better coordinate this facility with the one in Arizona.

Perhaps that explains the low costs you mentioned.
