I am finally going to upgrade my stereo very soon. In any case I just wanted to ask some of you for your opinion on my idea. I will be running 6x8 front and back doors, and two more 6x9 on the rear deck (custom) I want to mate them to a four channel BOSE amp. Now I know that my speakers (Cerwin-Vegas) are pretty decent, but I don't know how good the BOSE amp is. Any suggestions. By the way, I am setting all this up with a Kenwood head unit. Thanx to all!

bose amp? how much RMS does it put out? sounds like a good plan.
except Id drop the 2 6x9's in the back and go a single 8 or 10" and a small seperate amp to power those.
like a JL12w0 or single shiva and a small autotek amp would be nice.
or you could use 2 channels to run the front two speakers and bridge 2 to run a sub and use your HU to power your rears..
just some ideas, In
EDIT: I ment8" or 10" not 12 or 15!

Not how I'd set up my system, but should work just fine.
First, this Bose amp. They only offer OEM amps, AFAIK, nothing retail. Any information on this amp would be helpfull. You said 4-channel, but you have 6 speakers. How do you plan to wire it up? Maybe use the head unit for the 4 door speakers and bridge the Bose amp for the 2 6x9's?

I was unaware that BOSE had any car audio gear besides the lackluster systems they put together for a few different manufacturers.
Where did you get it from? Any specs?
I'd also suggest dumping the rear 6x9s. If you're just after some bass fill, go for a single 8" free-air woofer mounted underneath the rear deck.
If you haven't already purchased the speakers, I'd only bother replacing the speakers in the front doors. You'll likely notice no significant improvement replacing the rear speakers.
Then, use the front two channels of your 4ch amp to power your front doors, and bridge the rear channels to your sub. Run the rear speakers off your deck's internal amp.

I tried the 6x8 3 way Pioneer route. Do yourself a favor and get some cheap 6.5" components and slap em in the doors. You will love yourslef later. I threw the 6x8's in the rears and have a closeout set of JBL 6.5" components up front. Imaging, highs, mid-bass is so much better! Only cost me $15 more for the seperates than the $60 6x8's I put in.

Funny thing, and I have no idea how it happened, but i misspelled the amps manufacturer. It is BOSS and not BOSE. Sorry you guys. The amp claims to max out 1200 watts (300 x 4) What I was going to do is wire the amp to the rear speakers only (the rear doors and the rear deck) I listen to dance music mostly, so I do want some good bass, but nothing too oomph, like shaking my whole car and stuff. Now like I said, I have no idea if this amp is any good. I have two buddies who want to sell me two seperate amps. One is a used Rockford-Fosgate and the other is the new Boss amp. They would both cost me roughly the same money, around 200 -250 $. So now we can really talk about this. And you are right, BOSE only does OEM stuff wich is too bad b/c their speakers are awesome. Anyone use Infinity 5x7 speakers? That is the alternative I am thinking of doing instead of the 6x8 Cerwins. Which ones are better?

I would probably highly consider the RF amp rather than the Boss. Get us the model number on the RF and I'll let you know what the better choice would be for you application. If given the choice between CV and Infinity, I would choose Infinity but that is based on my own impressions. If you like the sound of the CV better, by all means get it. Put the new 6x8s in the front doors, not the rear doors. B*se speakers are quite possibly the worst speakers ever to be marketed as "high-end". There are very little redeeming qualities of their products aside from having very high SAF (spouse appeal factor). I pray every morning, afternoon and night that Bose will not try to get into the aftermarket car audio market and corrupt our country's youth into thinking they are getting something good or even remotely acceptable for the money being spent.

dnewma04, I see you are one of the multitude of anti-Bose fanatics in existence. If you haven't already done so, you can commiserate with your fellow Bose-bashers on www.audioreview.com , but you probably already know that. Some of those Bose reviews are the most unintentionally comical opinions I think I've ever read, with the possible exception of my own, of course. Personally, I've never had the alleged pleasure of engaging in the "Bose experience" as I've not owned nor even auditioned any of their products. However, my parents purchased a Wave Radio when they first came out & I have yet to hear any distinct difference between their $500 Bose & my own $30 clock radio (I suspect it was the advertisements on Rush Limbaugh's radio program that enticed them to make the purchase). I know that when I first got into home audio a friend of mine let it be known that he absolutely despised Bose products when I brought up the subject of the 901 series speaker. I guess that was my first encounter with the phenomenon known as "Bose-bashing." Now that I know quite a bit more about home & car audio, I can understand the aversion fellow enthusiasts have for Bose as I myself am leary of a speaker company that refuses to quote performance statistics like frequency response & instead rely solely on a marketing campaign obviously geared towards the audio neophyte. If that's what has made them a successful company, then more power to them. I guess people just resent them trying to foist their stuff off as "high-end" equipment.

I have an awful lot of respect for Bose the company. They are quite possibly the best marketing company in the world, it's too bad they aren't a marketing firm (some would argue that's all they are). I have no respect for their porducts which are self-described as revolutionary when gimmicky is probably the better term. The 901 is an unusual concept that some people swear by, but actual measurements of the speaker are less than stellar. Did you know that the drivers in the 901 only cost Bose somewhere on the order of 3-5.00 a piece?
Now, I'm not saying that they sound terrible, it's just that if Bose didn't spend more on advertising and marketing than ALL other audio companies COMBINED, they could sell their speakers in the market they belong in. The AM5 for instance, should be somewhere in the 250.00 range for the two satellites and the sub. Posibbly even lower. The 901s would be decent 450.00/pair speakers.
Whatever revolutionary ideas they have come up with over the years have normally been preceded by 10 years by companies like B & O.
