With all the kits out there, i'd totally choose the 1.8T. There is a very large following to that engine, and it's proven very reliable.

That true, you can do that, but its A HELL OF ALOT MORE than $4500. I just saw the 4.6L Cobra FSVT and the guy told me turnkey price...$70K, and think about it, what could YOU buy with $70K Even the 302 Focus conversion is $25K, plus your Focus.
The $70k car has a warranty, and more than just engine upgrade, though I'd rather just buy a cobra. The 302 conversion is a LOT less than $25k unless someone is ripping you off. If you shop right, you're looking at around $10k. OR just keep the zetec for free and modify it.
I'm sure that $4500 does't include install and actual costs of obtaining the power train may make it cost more than $4500. Then you only have 200hp and you spent $4500+ to get that.
And the zetec and the 302 both have plenty of aftermarket available and both are pretty reliable when built right. More power, cheaper, and RWD if you go with the 5L.... hmmm no i'd rather have the 1.8 VW engine.

It would still be a cold day in hell before I spend $70,000 on a Ford Focus.

The $25K is turnkey, they provide everything and install it, providing you supply the Focus. As far as paying $70K for the Cobra FSVT, well thats for lottery winners and pro athletes who want a "toy" and what a toy that car must be

Actually i've been looking into the v-8 comversion and it would take some serious fabrication but it can be dome seeing as the focus has a smaller engine bay it would fit fine in the tour.

Umm, maybe you should actually look at a focus. It has a larger engine bay. It has also has a tunnel under the car that is perfect for the RWD driveshaft. And have you seen a 302 in a focus? It looks more at home in the engine bay than a zetec does. Though yes a v8 conversion can be done on a contour, it will take a LOT more work than it does to make it work on a focus, and a LOT more money.
