Got fed up having no bump in my ride. Installed an old (10 years) Clarion 8" powered tube I had lying around. It was alright. Started having delusions of big subs and amps and visited local CarToys shop. Bass to cash ratio low, saw a JL Audio 8W3-D4 on sale (Demo model). Swapped out the 8 in the tube, huge improvement. Then I got crazy! Wired the sub to the rear channels (bridged 150 watts) of my JL 300/4. Crossed over @ 95hz, 12db slope.....BOOM! What a difference! That little 8 hits like a most other companies 10" subs! Going back to get another! -Joe

JL has the best 8" woofers ever, the 8W6's were freaking outstanding, I am sure the W3 is about the same.
Bad news though JL will soon be produced oversea's, could mean disaster for quality, but I'll bet the price stays the same.

Don't know how it compares to JL Audio, but I'm very happy with my Dayton Thruster 8".

what do you think of the jl amp? i'm considering a jl audio 300/2 to drive my polk dx 10, but i've never heard of thier amps only their speakers. what's all this about the amp sensing the resistance of your speakers and adjusting current approppriately? does it work? how's sound quality/power?
don't drink and drive.

I have never had good luck with JL's. I had three different pairs of 12" W3's and the first got toasted within a week, the second and third the dust cap blew right off and also on the third pair the surround busted. I will never buy JL again. Although I am not two happy with my Punch XLC's that I hve now but that is probablly because I decided to get the 8ohm instead of 4 so they aren't giving it all they got. Maybe I am just to picky

PPI is definitely in business but within the last few years a/d/s/ parent company (ADST) aquired them. The flat piston subs were pretty nice, but i don't believe they make the anymore.
