Hey Knu,

Mine never had a problem with CDRs up until a couple weeks ago...it has trouble finding the first track usually. Its been acting a little strange in the last few months. Can I contact Alpine about sending it in for some maintenance/upkeep? You know, check things out, clean up the tracks and the lens/mechanism? TIA.

SQPlus, I the headliner in my car looks much the same as yours (even the interior light and map light assembly looks exactly the same). The only difference is the large plastic panel behind the light where the sunroof motor and switch go.

If I get the PXA I'll look into placing the control panel when I actually have the unit in my hands. It's easier to try things out that way. Although I'm sure if it's thin enough I could get it behind the visor and fit something to make sure it doesn't get scratched by the mirror cover. BTW, does your mirror cover open up to reveal two small lights either side of the mirror? In that case it will be the same as mine also!

Is it true that the PXA-H510 doesn't come with a microphone and the ability to perform an automatic setup? I believe that unit is more suited to a multimedia install (hence the DD and DTS) and it loses out on some features of the 600. Probably needs the use of an RTA to set it up properly.

mklaro, I read your post, are you sure it's the 7878 you got? Over here that is the MP3 unit but you state it's the unit below the 7878. I think you've got the 7876 which has a segmented display rather than dot matrix and doesn't support MP3 or CD-RW (but it does have a 4x60W max amp).

Paul.

Unfortunately my car(98.5) was caught at the beginning of the decontenting so no I don't have the lights in my visors. mad Damn Ford. I imagine you could affix some soft material to the mirror cover so it wouldn't scratch the face. Another concern I just realized is with the way head liner curves to fit the visor. It is 'sunk in' closer to the actual roof so the visors are inset. The depth behind there might not be enough for the display. I'm going to go and check it out right now though. I'll snap some pics of the unit so you can see it better. Back in a flash. laugh
