When I got some gas tonight, I think I filled it up becuase the pump automatically shut off. When I got back into my car it read 3/4 tank and before I filled up it read a little bit less than 1/4 tank. I got back outta my cart and it kept stopping and stopping. So, how do I know that the gauge is bad?? Any tests that I can do?? Any help is appreciated

The gauge rarely acts up without the other gauges acting up too.

The sending unit is usually the problem.

Make sure it actually is full first, a bad filler neck flap or some stations pumps will do this.

Well, the auto shut off thing didnt activate until I got close to 10.00 which I did barely. So, is there anyway that I can test the sending unit??

The wires hook into the black box I believe.
If you took it out it should be easy, output goes from 1-5 volts over float travel AKIK.

Sounds like the flapper valve problem, which has a recall.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The auto-fill is kicking off too soon.
