either way those ford speakers are going to distort no way around it. that clarion should have noticably less distortion levels than the factory amp tho. so just try the new HU on your stock speakers and bypass that amp. if you're still not satisfied go get a decent pair of coaxials (or componets if you want some serious sq and have the money to spend) . even if you go with coaxials, it'll still be a big improvement from stock and will have less distortion. if your bass is STILL distorting too much for you, either invest in an amp to push em or a set of high pass filters(bass blockers) for around $15. after that, the only way to get less distortion and better sq is to step up to componets

it all depends on how serious you are about the music in your car and how much its worth to you. if your just lookin for a lil more power handling and a lil less distortion, i think that new HU and perhaps a pair of coaxials will suit you just fine. i honestly wish i could be content w/just that. this hobby is rather expensive and quite addictive as well.

i'm just waitin for someone to tell him: "dude for less distortion on those stock speakers all you need is a 1 farad cap and 46 yellow top batteries"
hehe, just kiddin but it wouldnt really surprise me
