Okay I'm curious of everyone's mileage and repairs on their SVT's, not minor repairs like headlights but all else.
I've got: 98 SVTe0- 74k miles clutch is slipping but still okay new plugs, wires, h2o pump, throttle cable other than that no major problems...knock on wood

i have a s.e. mtx not a svt. i baught the car with 29,000 miles last december and now i have 53,000. i changed the alternator 2 times due to a bad battery on the second time. a bolt went int he tranny and the shifter would work 1,500 to chage the gear changign mechanism on the top of the tranny. then there was the d.p.f.e. sensor. thats about it so far.

99SVT, 82,000 miles...
Just got my very first CEL. I don't know what it's from, i'm hoping I just ripped the wires out of my rear 02 sensor driving over all the snow around here (stupid people dig out their cars and throw the snow in the street!!!).

Bought the car in May and picked it up with 158Kms... cel came on the next day(multipal mis-fires). Plugs, wires, filters...easy. 163Kms... Water pump, clutch starting to slip, sunroof gives up, both torque mounts start to rip, CV boot replaced
169Kms... Rear stabilizer end link bushings disintegrate
173Kms... Rod berring decides to take a walk. Engine replaced w/98 @ 75Kms, clutch upgraded/replaced
181Kms... It's still running... but for how long?
Next... Front struts and springs, replace outer tie rods, fuel pump is making strange noise on startup, repaired mounts need replaceing (didn't use right stuff...live n learn)
To read this you might think that I hate this car... on the contrary! This car gives me more enjoyment per K than any other car I've ever owned. Sure I've had faster, but the contour can go from back road barnstormer to near luxury touring in a heartbeat, and no car I've owned has been able to do both things so well. The Contour really is a drivers car, its a shame more didn't know just how good it is. But then, we would have to pay what these cars are actually worth, not what they are going for in the used market. (bit of a double edge sword) Yes they break... show me a car without a Camery badge that dosen't. If you can't maintain a diligent maintance schedule, go buy a 4cyl auto Camery.

I had all my problems in the first 15k.
Multiple (5-6) sunroof motor failures (never "truly" fixed the stealership just through new motors at the problem)
I fixed it myself thanks to the advice of an old time CEGer. (still fixed to this date! - screw FORD service)
IMRC failure at 15k - Ford service COULD NOT diagnose the problem and "I TOLD THEM EXACTLY WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF!"
I fixed it myself after hounding a stealership to order me a new IMRC. (Screw Ford Dis-service!)
Funny how the problem went away on the test drive after IMRC R&R... Hmmm...
Then there was the whole destroying of all 4 of my rims and 3 jack cutouts... At least I had the pleasure of getting at least 2 ignorant morons fired that day!!! The 2 weeks without my car did not make up for getting new rims and cutouts though...
Again thanks Ford Moronic & Ignorant Service Department...
Morale of the story...
I really do love driving my car, however...
NEVER BUY A NEW FORD BECAUSE THE SERVICE IS NON-EXISTENT AND IF YOU EVER DO GET THEM TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY (several stories about that too!) THE WORKMANSHIP AND LEVEL OF COMPETENCY IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!

update: cleared the CEL so we are just back to a bad wheel bearing.
Any other problems I had were "normal" and covered under warranty.
Bad IAC @ 70k Bad Fuel pump @70k
...that's about it...
