Heya Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone out there has the factory amp specs for the SVT "premium" sound system. When I had my new head unit, amp and speakers installed, they left the amp in place (in case I wanted to reconnect it when/if I sell the car). Because I really enjoy my car, I probably wont sell it, so I'm wondering if I can put the amp to good use (such as for a pair of tweeters or midranges that I will customly install somewhere in the car.... So.. i need the stats onthe amp.
Thanks, Tom

It's about 15w rms @ 20% distortion. Honestly, it not worth using for anything. Just leave it there in case some poor fool wants it.
When you say the installer left it, did they at least bypass it? Since this amp is external to the factory HU, the speaker wires at the HU go through this amp and them out to the speakers. Everyone I know that has heard their exact system with the amp connected vs. bypassed has noticed a significant improvement in sounds quality with that amp bypassed. It just involves a simple harness, but most installers don't use it unless it is requested.

aye, it was bypassed. They ran new wires, thereby completely bypassing the amp.
Thanks for the info.
Cheers, Tom

Good deal. Are you using the HU or an external amp to drive the door speakers currently?

I am using the Autotek 4160 to drive the Lanzar door speakers. They sound very nice (for door speakers), but I will likely add a sub of some sort, and maybe some crystal-clear tweeters, in the near future.
The head unit is supposed to provide enough power for speakers, but I decided against going in that direction.
Cheers, Tom

If you decide to add tweeters, add a two way crossover (about $5ea) and use that amp for both. It'll be plenty of power for both. If you add a sub at some point, does that includes another amp for it?

When I add a sub, I'll have to add another Amp.. Hopefully, the Amp will be smaller, (as I would still like some trunk space that didn't put out heat I know its not the best setup, but I'm thininkg that I will mount the amp to my sub enclosure (so that I can remove them both when I need the trunk space)... I'll just have to make a very sturdy (and dampened wher the amp is to go) enclosure... Cheers, Tom
