An impressive looking car thats been hit with the ugly stick . . .  I'd rather go for a Mazda3 myself, basically the same hardware with a much more attractive skin.

I was just at the Mazda dealer today, just passing by and saw they have the new Mazda 3's there and all I gotta say is this, sorry Ford, back to the drawing board

Ford didn't design the Mazda 3, Mazda did. And looks aren't everything. Some ignore all the hardware improvements on new cars just because they dislike little things like lights.
The Mazda 3 is a different platform than the Focus, also.

They should cut the Focus line, and put the Contour line in its place... I never really cared for the Ford Focus cars.... And I love most Fords.

The Mazda 3 is on a different platform, from what we get in North America at least.....the euro versions share platforms with the Mazda 3/Volvo S40.

Not really that different from the current focus on the outside. I do like the interior alot better. Almost VW-ish.

OK, I read the link and the proof is right there, that is is NOT the US Focus! Read this clip from the article: "That's interesting because the Mazda 3 is, in all essentials, a Focusâ??not the current model, but the new small Ford that appears in Europe as the C-Max minivan this autumn and worldwide as a five-door hatchback in 2004."  Also, the Contour line is gone forever, but the 2005 Futura car coming is a good replacement. Look for it.
