eh... well.... still isnt a cool car, ill stick with the tour

The exterior doesn't change my opinion on it all that much (liked the original exterior as it were) but the interior dash layout, though still clunky around the shifter, is MUCH improved!!!!!!!!

And Duratec I4's??

well there goes my hopes for a cool two door hatchback design (put your hand on the screen and block out the trunk area & imagine 2 doors). The front end is last generation Taurus odd....


I'll reserve judgment until I see one in person. But the silver fully loaded one sure reminds me of the new Chevy Malibu from the ass rear shot.... and that's not good....

Any SVT???

I think all I-4s and V-6s are switching over to Duratec designation, and I m not even sure if the Zetec name was ever used over in Europe.

Doesn't look bad to me, I think it's an improvement......though the dash and such looks like something out of a Civic.

For the 100th time, Ford is bringing out a new family of four cylinder engines. 2.0L and 2.3L will be available in the Focus for 2005. The Zetec design dies this spring, they are not just "changing the names".

Do some research and learn about the new engines. The Duratec 2.3L has way more torque than even the SVT Focus Zetec, and is a lot more smooth and refined. Go to www.focaljet.com or www.fordvehicles.com

"A 150-horsepower 2.3-liter Duratec 23 DOHC I-4 engine will power the new Focus ST performance sedan, which will be available in all 50 states. This free-revving engine is derived from the same family as the Duratec 20 but its larger displacement and performance-tuned exhaust help it produce 10 percent more horsepower. Torque is 153 foot-pounds, a 16 percent increase for exceptionally strong off-the-line and mid range acceleration."


The Focus SVT is dropped, replaced by an ST series, with the same suspension as the SVT, with new 2.3L. Using 'ST' enables Ford to sell them at all Ford dealers, not just SVT. Also, prevents them from "dumbing down" the SVT badge. They want to save it for the Cobra and Lightning, and a few other hi-po vehicles.

There are plans for other 'ST' cars, like Futura. In a snese it is like bringing back the original "SE" cars.

There won't be an SVT version until 2006 (or fall '05 as an '06 model) at least. BTW there ARE TC'ed Foci running around with M-plates on them; remember that black Focus in Autoweek with the cowl hood on it? Turbocharged and Intercooled!
