I highly agree. For me, the real "stock" car racing is the touring cars. They actually look like the road cars to a degree, and the skill of the drivers is excellent. Same with WRC
As for Nascar, I still respect it, even if I don't like it as much as other form of racing. These guys are better drivers than I will ever be. Anyone that doesn't respect these guys should draft at 200 miles an hour, then pull out and trade paint with the guy. Then see how many drivers line up to kick you ass after you cause a huge wreck.
Bottom line? They still drive the thing, and the guy who gets there first is still the winner. End of story.

I was flipping around the other night and they had some ARSECAR banquet. I wanted to slit my wrists.

That is the point. The lack of technology is what makes Nascar fun to watch. In F1 they are banning some technology in F1 like traction control, if I remember correctly. There are some forms of technology that take driving out of the drivers hands in my opinion.
In terms of driver skill:
In F1 for a majority of the races if one car wrecks how many cars are out? 1? 2? 3?
In Nascar you could take out more than a dozen easily.
With that waid how many lives are in the hands of a nascar driver? How about a F1 driver?
I love both but we are trying to compare apples to oranges.

I agree, its apples to oranges. And I'm not saying NASCAR doesn't have its virtues. It's just about freakin' time that the NASCAR fans got a little more educated with the rest of the racing going on in the United States and supported these other leagues just as hard as they support NASCAR.
I've always thought it would be an easy transition for NASCAR fans to get into Trans-Am racing... I mean, the cars are somewhat similar, except for the alloy wheels, engine choices and multiple body styles, but you still have that wonderful V-8 roar, and these cars run on road courses and city streets rather than oval rings. What's stopping people from appreciating Trans-Am? I'll tell you... its the demolition derby that is a NASCAR race and the amount of high speed carnage you can see every weekend.
