I have no idea where Paodi, PA is or 'Eric', unless it's Eric Ford but I do have a 24 valve contour.

The contours came with two engines: 2.0L 16 valve I4 and 2.5L 24 valve V6. The V6's were the base model (170 hp) and the SVT (195-200hp).
Is this guy replacing the engine in the Taurus? Guess so - I just scrolled down...

What the guys did to mine when they installed the Taurus 3.0L (the 24 valve Taurus engine is the same as the Contour, only .5L bigger) into my SVT is knife edged the crank, added a Fidanza flywheel and they did a three angle valve job to my heads. The Taurus Duratec (the 24 valve version of the 3.0L - not the Vulcan) has larger valves than the 2.5L contours so I had them put them in. I've been contemplating custom cams for a while to add to my list. There is a group buy going right now from a relatively new guy named Travis. I don't know much about him so I'm not recommending him at all - just showing you an option.
There is a veteran guy on here that offers CNC machined heads for the Contours and Taurii - you could order a set of heads through him but that's relatively expensive.

My recommendations would be the MSDS headers for the Contour (I'm pretty sure they'd fit - you may have to do a lot of research on that), a freer flowing exhaust and an intake filter designed to let more air into the engine. If you want to talk engine internals that can get expensive, i.e. knife edged crank, CNC heads, cams, etc.
