Unfortunately, I've known several people gullible enough to try these pyramid schemes--Amway, Mary Kay, Christmas Around the World, yadda yadda yadda. Basically they're all vendors selling repackaged or renamed stuff you can find elsewhere for less. Except now you have to say "no" to your neighbor or friend who is selling the goods instead of Wal-mart.
The most prominent sales pitch for getting into the biz is how much money you'll make by doing nothing as your recruits will be doing all the work. What they do not tell you is how much money you'll spend upfront, or how much time you will spend selling your product, or how difficult it is to sucker those new recruits. So by the time you try to calculate an hourly wage I guarantee you'd be better off behind the counter of Taco Bell.
But that's just opinion from someone who has witnessed it countless times.
