Hi all,

Dave (dnewma04) asked me to pop in and add to this thread...

Basically, running a single voice coil of a DVC driver will not damage the driver in any way, shape or form. It will change some of the T/S parameters (Qes and Re, and potentially Qms, to be precise), but the net resulting T/S change may not affect the box design.

For information about running the DVC subs, please see our tech papers at:
http://www.adireaudio.com/Tech%20Papers/dvc_subs.htm
http://www.adireaudio.com/Tech%20Papers/rdo_operation.htm

Essentially, one can use the second "undriven" voice coil to alter the driver's T/S parameters in a predictable manner. This allows considerable flexibility, especially in IB and large sealed box installations.
