dont have an answer for your problem, but i learned...the hard way...to let the drivers window down before getting out of the car with the key in the ignition...locked myself out probably 3 times before i really got the message

I watched a locksmith put a wedge between my window and weatherstripping then slip a funky shaped metal rod under the window and into the cabin. He manipulated the piece of metal a little bit and hit the unlock button. One time in my family's old Crown Vic my sister managed to lock the keys on the back seat when she got some toys out. The locksmith came out and cut a new key while looking at the old one sitting on the seat inside the car

I was helping my friend put a new gas tank on his truck, and was getting a bit too warm so I tossed my coat in the Tour. Force of habit, I locked the car before shutting the door. I locked my keys in my jacket inside the car. I never felt as stupid in my entire life. I just popped out the trunk lock with a hammer and a chissle. Sure I had a busted trunk lock, but really I didn't care since I was selling it a couple days later

Hey Guys, I worked for a locksmith company for about a year (no longer). It is VERY easy to unlock ANY car given a proper door diagram and the right tools (both which are very illegal to have if u r not a locksmith). I believe everyones advice is right, but i figured i would give a quick word of warning for future searches on this subject. *Warning* if you press downwards on the link rod (like described in earlier post) it is possible to press TOO hard and disconnect the link rod, and if that happens the ONLY way to get into it is to break the window. Good news though, if u mess up one door, u have 3 more chances. Even when you get the other door unlocked, the disconnected door will have to be reconnected, which takes a little work but not much, in order to work again.
Just a little warning to be careful when fishing around in the dark....good luck

well how much did the locksmith charge you??? compared to a 30 second job with a slim jim???? bet he would have felt kinda bad for charging you so much for just pushing the slim jim down the side of the window than doing what he was trained to do, make keys and get paid more.......

I've locked my self out of my contour before. I walked about an hour back home (house key was on other set of keys) and after I got my extra key I walked back... after all of that I sewed an extra key into my wallet.

i did it with my engine running, with the gas light on and i was across the street from a mechanics garage (i knew the guy who owned it) so i walked across the street and he had one of those unversal key thingies. hey unlocked my door, but by then the car was already out of gas. we pushed it over to the garage and he gave me 5 gallons of gas FOR FREE!!!. then i went to the nearst gas station, filled up, and went to the nearest ATM and gave him 15 dollars for his trouble.

Thanks!
