I work for best buy, so i am lucky enough to get crappy speakers at discount (you dont wanna know the mark-up on speakers). Anyways, I blew out my Cerwin Vega HED1683 and replaced them with the pioneer 3way 5x7s. I think they suck. With subs and a pioneer FIE enhancer there's way too much bass in my sound. I got them only because we're out of stock on the CV's and with all thats been going on, who knows when stores will be fully stocked. I love pioneer HU's but I dont care for the speakers. Anyone else dissatisfied with their pioneers?

I've got the Pioneer 6x8 plate components in my truck. They sound pretty good. Better than regular coaxials, and just shy of decent true component speakers.

I'd suggest getting a hi-pass filter for your Pioneers if you've got too much bass. I think that 75Hz to 120Hz (depending on your musical tastes) would do.

You can get some bass blockers from www.partsexpress.com for a couple bucks each. For that cheap, you could experiment with different x-over points too.

I've never owned any. The only thing I've ever noticed taht stood out to me was how much more bass their 6x9s have than their 6x8s. The area of the cone isn't substantially bigger so their shouldn't be that big of a differnce. Oh well.

BTW, if you think the markup is bad on Best Buys end, you would be even more surprised to see the markup that best buy is paying to the manufacturer. To give you an idea....the speakers used in Pioneers best component set, probably cost on the order of 6-8.00 for the mid and about the same for the tweet. Figure about 5.00 in crossover components and you have a total cost of about 20.00.

It gets even worse when talking about subwoofers. And even worse than that when talking about Bose home speakers. 901s have about 13.00 in drivers installed in each one. One of the reasons I wouldn't consider a brand name product again.

I've got the pioneer 6x8 3-ways...personally I like them and think there isn't enough bass. Of course I don't have a sub installed yet. In the end, its what you think sounds good though.

Are you powering the Pionners with your head unit? I've got the 2 way 6x8's up front, and there is no real bass, but theve got some punch to them... And I'm pretty happy with the overall sound.... Nothing speacial, but for the money, its good.... Of course I'm pushing them with a Rockford Fosgate 400.4 turned way down of course.... The pionneers sounded really good when I still had my Audio Control 4.1 and 3xs Crossover installed..... REAL good......

Hey I feel you about the speakers. I used to work at best buy and all the speakers choices they have there suck. I hated, hated my cerwin vegas but I didnt think the pioneers were much better. I went with the vegas just beause the over all sound is better even though there is no midrange. Oh the the hole pioneer three way and four way thing is crap because I know speakers that are two way that sound a hello of a lot better than the pioneer four way
