When I am at Idle I hear a ticking/tapping/clicking?? noise from upper part of engine. I know it is there when driving but does not increase in loudness.
I have been to acouple shops. Inluding ford dealer/firestone and a independant shop w/ a great rep. and all say it is normal.
I can remember buying a new 626 mazda in 98 with the 4 banger and from day one there was a light tapping which was the same.
I bought this 2000 svt with 41000 and now it has 44000+ miles on it. tapping has not increased nor has the preformance changed. The the car is very strong.
So my question. Is this normal with all svt's?
If so what is making the noise? cams? valves? Lifters?
If Not, what is it? and do you think it would be covered under the premium car care extended warranty?
