Ok,
At the risk of ticking off the boxhost, Andy, that is nearly as offensive as stereotypes about blacks or any other racial group.
But since I know it doesn't apply to this midwestern born, raised in a county without a single black family, but yet I'm still not racist, I'll choose not to be offended by what appears to be a not-so-well thought out remark.

here's another newsflash! ...i can pretty much guarantee you that the results of this study could be duplicated in any geographical region in the US. Part of the study took place in Chicago and Boston.

I know my statements were general, not racist, and I don't believe everyone in the mid-west is racist. I jsut don't see how he can consider a study in Wisconsin the norm for American's. Racism has no boundaries and is just as bad amoung the minority comunities as it is amoung the white community, we just happen to the majority.
Black vs. White racial issues are far more prevelant in rural areas than urban areas and the mid-west has much more farm land than the rest of the US. I'm not dumb enough to catagorize an entire region of the US. I grew up going to school where I was more likely the only white person in my class. I had issues far more often by black people than white. Does that mean I generalize? No! I've learned that I deal with each person on an individual level. My opinion of them is based on how they treat me.
BTW, LOL box host is no reason to hold me on a pedistal. I'm not petty enough to ban someone over a constructive arguement.

How about a poll of whether the highering individual is white or black? If the majority where black would it go the other way? Maybe, maybe not! Most studies are useless!

the poll already alluded to that by saying the majority of people in upper management positions throughout the US are white.
lol @ if the majority were black. the fact is that it's not. but you're right...who knows how it would be if it were the other way around.

I never said I was in denial of deeprooted racism. I was just merely saying that it was crap ow people blame there position in life on racism. I am sick and tired of hearing people complain how they didn't get a job (or what ever) because of there race. Did they ever stop to think that the other person was better than them? No. They play the race card and use it as a damn crutch. It's stupid.

In order to really make these types of statistics have any meaning, I think there would need to be some commentary by the people going through the applications to prove just how much of the prejudice is racial, and how much may be due to other factors.
Non-race factors:
One college may be preferential to the employer than another, for any number of reasons. I personally feel a private college education is better than a public college education. If I were reading the resume, I will base points on that.
Experience with a particular firm may have more weight with an employer. Either because they do business similar to you, or has prestige in the market, or because you like the company.
I will be the first to admit that these studies show race is a factor, I am questioning the degree and the reasons why.
Unfortunately, as expensive as the hiring process is, it is not possible to get to know each candidate, particularly their appearance and verbal skills. Perhaps if a question as asked and recorded verbally as a part of the application, diction could be taken into consideration.
Basically put, government has never succeeded in being a catalyst for societal change. Society is still to evolve to the point where everyone is truly equal, and legislation isn't going to change that. It's not right, but it's reality.

of course there are always the "whoa is me" people around, but you must've overlooked the information i posted above. the odds are if you're a minority then you're at a disadvantage to begin with because of your race. and it happens a lot more often than you hear of. but to you people are whining and complaining about an imaginary problem. you can ignore the pink elephant for only so long.

think about this for a second! the most complex of all of gods creations are broken down into black and white.Theres very few white people and very few black people.We are many differrent shades of color. look at yourself in the mirror and you,ll see your not what you may think you are.Once you get beyond color and come to realize that we are americans who have lost thousands of jobs to other countries,attacked by terrorist and forced to out spend each other for a bum education. Then maybe than people will fight together and realize this country has sold us out together and race is just to keep the stupid---stupid.remember 911!it will happen again  .WE SHALL OVER COME SOMEDAY....
