Do you know WHY AA and quotas aren't working?

It is because AA and quotas are a mechanism which judges a person by the color of their skin, not their ability.

Some use the term "reverse racism" to describe it.

Until we realize that two wrongs (first wrong: slavery and jim crow laws. second wrong: AA and quotas) don't make a right, we will continue to have problems.




I have been a victim of reverse racisim.

One summer I was working for a bank, white manager black supervisor and a black co-worker. Everything was great, the co-worker and I started the same time and it was obvious she didn't have much in the way of computer skills. No problem, I helped her out.

When the manager went on vacation, I was let go, because my computer skills were sub-par. Uh-huh, right. I found out when the manager came back to work, she was pissed because she was going to let the co-worker go (we were both summer temps) because she didn't have the required computer skills. When I told my co-worker, she was pissed and apologized. The temp agency was very apologetic and I was working the very next day, so no real problems for me.

Some of the 'roughneck' people I run into while commuting in NYC everyday think I'm nothing but the man, a typical white guy. The best/worst part about that is my parents came to the states in the 50s and my people (Armenians) were repressed and murdered by the Turkic peoples in the earlier part of the 20th century (1915-1917 to be exact). My parents and I have friends that are all colors/races/creeds, the works. So, I get really, really, REALLY mad when I am called a racist and say I have to pay for something because of the color of my skin.

My family wasn't even IN the USA when slavery occurred, my family was getting KILLED in Armenia. Hence, the immigration to this great country.

When I was in school, the part that angered me the most was the voluntary segragation. The whites hung with the whites, the blacks with the blacks, the Koreans with the Koreans and so on and so forth. I thought we wanted everyone to be equal, why the segregation?!?! In my program, Television Production, we were a tight, close knit group, all different colors/races/religions, and there were never any problems.

So, why, why, WHY the hell are people being stupid and trying to rid life of the past? It happened. If we ignore it, it will happen again!

I bet no one knows about the Armenian Genocide? I bet everyone knows about the Holocaust. Hitler was asked, when asked if he feared reparations (sp?) he responded, who ever cared or thought about the Armenians?

The past was forgotten and repeated itself. I do not want to see slavery to come again, or something else just as ridiculous.

Don't get me wrong, slavery is/was pure evil. But, instead of making it right, and working hard, all of us are being stupid and lazy and demanding money, and bending over backwards to hurt each other.

Ok, enough of my rant and tangent for now, I can talk about this for hours on end.
