to me that's obviously not what you meant when you typed the original statement. your statement infers that black people are looking for a handout because their ancestors were enslaved. you're obviously overlooking the class and economic disparity and side effects created by over 300 years of slavery. and keep in mind the emancipation proclamation is less than 150 years ago and the civil rights movement is less than 50 years old. i can see why some blacks feel that way. there's no doubt if you work and try hard anyone can make it happen but recent studies have shown that minorities are still handicapped due to deeprooted racial discrimination.
now i'm not in totally in support of handouts or retribution in the form of money and honestly i don't know the answer, but it seems that AA and quotas aren't working. i also see more white americans becoming frustrated over the gov efforts to fix a wrong commited by an old society, but the effects of the wrong are still here. what's ironic is that some white people were just as upset back when slavery was still practiced because they couldn't afford slaves, and felt the people who could had an unfair advantage. think about that.

ot...the 'master' and 'slave' discussion complaint is really stupid and overboard imo. to me it's an example of being completely oversensitive about something that has nothing to do with race or slavery.
