.. am I missing something? the iPod takes almost any encoding you throw at it, not just AAC. All of my files are MP3 formatted and it plays them fine. Heck, the iPod even takes WAVs if you have any old-school files kicking around.

I'll agree with your other points though, why bother fixing something if it's not broken ...
