Tandy 1000

I remember that Rat Shack had a machine that was based on the 80186 â?? a processor that never made it into any other manufacturers' PC-compatible systems; and that this system also was rather odd in a number of other ways that made it not entirely IBM-PC-compatible. I thought it was the Tandy 1000 that had these characteristics, and that it was the Tandy 2000 that was the first of that line to have the 80286.
Dude, that was so long ago. I'm trying to remember these #'s off the top of my head. All I remember is that it was a Tandy 1000 for sure. And that dot matrix printer mad a racket every time I used it.
I had the green screen and I used to play "ROGUE" on it. That's about it.

My dad bought a PC Junior in like '84! Don't even remeber if I played with it or not. Then he bought an IBM Aptiva in the 90's than ran Windows '95. $2600 for a 100 MHz computer! Imagine what $2600 can buy now!

Our first computer was also the Commodore 64 with the external drive--just used it for games. It's still in my Mom's basement packed up in a box somewhere.

Yeah but all you do is post on the CEG so you would never get your money's worth anyway.

I'm still using my first PC at home!! got it in Nov 97 PII 233 6 GB HD 56k modem came with 64 MB ram and win95 I have since "upgraded" to windows2000, ~160MB ram recently because my work got rid of all our old machines. I took 3 of them home for parts. I might add in another HD and see if one of the processors can replace mine - 233 to a 400 I'd have dsl if it were stinkin offered in my area!!

First computer... Apple ][, dual 5.25" drives, mono screen....
second was a Gen 1 Mac
First PC was a P1, 166, 32mbRAM, and a whopping 2gb hdd. God that thing kicked so much ass.
First PC I built for myself was a Celeron 400, 12gb hdd, 128mb RAM (eventually topped out at 320mb), 32mb nVidia TNT video.
Current is a 2.0ghz P4, 256mb DDR PC2100, 80gb Western Digital SE HDD, GeForce 4 ti4600.
Ahhhh... the days of simple computing and Oregon Trail.
