I've seen this in many magazines. It is much better than the gtech and many more are buying these instead of gtechs.

Id buy one, but no mu-lah to put on the table for it.

That would be better than the gtech, especially the gtech pro, though the gtech competition is pretty nice, I think it costs more than that escort thing. I got my gtech for over $100 less than the escort thing so I'm not complaining.

There were some G-techs on E-bay for $36, and now I see why. The G-tech is a one-axis accelerometer, and it only gives one readout per test run. That means if you want to get 0-60 and HP, you have to make several runs in each direction for each test. (Several runs are recommended to average out "real world" errors.) It's also (supposedly) a bit of a hassle to get it mounted and calibrated correctly.

I think this Escort unit is still a one-axis accelerometer, but it looks like you can get several measurements at one time. It also sounds easier to calibrate, and perhaps more accurate?

The downside to any one-axis device is that if you want to get cornering G's, you have to remount the unit sideways. But, like I said, I'm not sure whether the Escort unit has this fault or not.

Yes the gtech is a PITA to get mounted right. Also with lots of sun out, the display can be hard to read. Not good for me all strapped in my harness trying to read what it's displaying. But it was cheap.

I have yet to set it up correctly and the night I was gonna try it (even set incorrectly) the cops kept ruining my test runs. It's hard to find a 1/4 mile around here that I can go ~70mph+ on. Maybe this weekend...

i did mine from a light on a 35mph road that merges onto the highway, so it was kinda inaccurate, but i could hit the speeds safely
