This design is usually good for saving space.
Though from your description that isn't an issue here.They are also praised for "flat" in car response when done right.
Be aware that they usually don't have the
"impact" most people are used to hearing/feeling, and may require a upgrade in midbass drivers to compensate, but you won't know for sure`till you try it.
Also, make sure to seal the baffle COMPLETELY, top to bottom, side to side or it's going to sound like crap. It's just a resistively tuned infinite baffle after all.
Same rules of wave cancellation still apply.
