I get about 210 miles per tank in town. That seems low, taking that I've heard other Contour drivers getting around 300. My question is, is there anything I can do to increase my gas mileage?

you wont get 300 in the city.

i ususally got 200ish 100% city driving (delivering pizzas) with a lead foot.

to improve, clean your UIM, LIM, and TB (check the how-to section)

new plugs and wires

new air filter

use some fuel injector cleaner

lighten your foot (dont drive like a maniac)

they way you drive will make a difference, but you might need new O2 sensors. I when one went on my car I noticed the change in gas milage well before the CEL came on to say the O2 Sensor was bad. The sensor cost about 50 miles per tank

More meaningful to actually quote your mpg, especially since tank size varies. Here's the latest thread on the subject, showing the variations amongst responding members mpg

p.s. I may eventually move this thread to the General Forum.

I just received a 10-15% increase in MPG by taking off the pcv valve and cleaning the crap out of it. John

Just an FYI, I had a bad IAC for THREE years that the dealer couldn't diagnose (I finally found this board and fixed it myself after dealing with crazy idles & RPM's ever since new). When I changed the IAC, my mileage went from 17mpg average (city & highway) to 26-30mpg average. Absolutely HUGE difference...
