The Cougar/Contour/ZX2 Zetec are the same, if they have VCT. Obviously there are some Contiques/ZX2s without VCT, but no Cougars without VCT. The Focus Zetec, though internally basically identical(the block anyway), is externally different enough so most things won't bolt up.
My dad has my blown engine and is using it as a template to make his new turbo setup for his Focus. He's gonna use it to bolt on and fab the turbo so he has as little down time on the car when he actually turbo's it. Doesn't want the Focus down for two months like my Cougar was.
He bought a ZX3 exhaust manifold and oil pan. He said they bolted up perfectly though the exhaust manifold and oil pan are not physically identical to our stock units. The exhaust manifold looks totally different and the oil pan has the exhaust channel in the oposite location.
The engine I bought to replace my blown engine was off a ZX2. It has VCT and fuel injectors that are identical to my Cougar and my Dad's Focus. It was a direct bolt-in.
