actually you could do a vin tag swap and junk the other car..after all you do own them..they have been doing it for yearts with old muscle cars to get one that is in really good condition.. But, the big problem is if you wreck it..you run into not having parts available at a reasonable cost to fix it..

Again, why bother?????

The current Mondeo is now outdated, with the Mazda 6 taken it's place as Ford's main midsized car.

Also, the 2004 Chevy Malibu is based on the Opel Vectra, which is the Euro Mondy's rival and has the same dynamics.

It doesn't sell as well as it used to. Ford laid off workers at the Belguim plant that makes them.

The next generation mondeo will share a platform with the Mazda 6 and upcoming Futura. So, in a way we will get it after all.

Mercury is coming out with the Montego name... again. I think it's related to the 6/Futura, though I can't yet back that up. The Mariner is the Escape/Tribute sister for Mercury, BTW.

Also... I'm sure you've noticed Ford's overly neurotic insistence on either using styling from bygone eras (the current and new Mustangs, the moribund T-Bird that went over like a lead balloon) or resurrecting old names like Futura, Montego, Monterey, ect. Does this means the talent pool has dried up? Or is it just that certain powers-that-be were too young to enjoy the classics when they had come out, and want the old days back. Perhaps their motto should be: "Raiding the Tomb to Fill the Womb."
