I bought an out of box chip and separate fan. So if the die(chip) is like a pinkish color does that mean I've fried it? They probably won't let me return it for a new one either..

The board is a kd7a, its got the VIA kt400a chip on it. I checked the abit forums and the board likes a lot of power...so if the mb isn't the problem it is probably the PS.

yea, i have that motherboard. And yes get a powerful powersupply because the board itself requires alot of power. I was having problems with the video but after resecting the cmos and reinstalling, everything went fine. Are you sure the chip is an orange color becuase i have a 2400 and it is green. My girls 2200 is green also, get a better Power supply and try to return the chip, because you problably melted it when using the thermal tape. good luck.
