Does anyone know about this... Infinity Basslink Amplified Subwoofer I was considering buying it just to add bass to the 6x8's that Ford likes to use. I have good highs and mids with my Kenwoods, but as I'm sure you all know, the bass sucks!! I like this cause it's small, and won't take up much trunk space. Is it worth the $125 the guy is asking, being used for 8 months? Obviously I'll have to see pics of it. I just don't want to spend a lot, but I want something that sounds good, aka low distortion. I plan on putting in component speakers next summer.

I want to re-itereate, that I am looking for Sound quality. I do not want to rattle my trunk, or shake the car next to me. SQ is what I want... hence the plans on getting components...

I have had some experience with different 6x8's, all of which give me the same conclusion... lack of bass. If I decide to go with components, and amp them at 65W RMS, will the amount of bass increase? And just as importantly, will I be able to get a lower frequency response? The Kenwood 6x8's I have don't even respond to many of the lows in common music. And the Kenwoods I have aren't cheap...

what kind of head unit do you have?? and what is its power rateing? and IMO I would most deffinatly say that adding an amp for the 6x8's would increase the bass.

I've never heard the infinity basslink in person but I do recall many others claiming that it sounds nice. Should give you exactly what your looking for, SQ, not a shat load of rattles. I say go for it. You can also look into a free air rear deck sub that others seem to be having success with. Good luck.

Yeah I own an Infinity Basslink. Its got a good sound for the money. Definately not an SPL device. It will round out your systems sound a bit in the low end. And for $125 its a steal.

I beg to differ as far as 6x9's sounding that much better than 6x8's. For obvious reasons, you will get a little more bass out of a 6x9" speaker, but you will also have some advantages of using a 6x8" speaker. In my opinion the 6x8's produce a more defined sound and a good set have better mid-range response. As someone else said, your head unit is responsible for most of your sound quality. I had a pair of amped 6x8's that sounded better than any 6x9" speaker I have ever heard before. Either way, it all depends on your setup.

Hey... READ!!! No one said anything about 6x9's. Come on Brett, you are in college now. It's time to look at details... j/k I agree on the comment though. 6x9's are for an all around sound, lows, highs, and depending on the speaker, mids. I have heard some good SQ 6x9's though. It all depends on how much you spend, and how it's set up.

Yea, I am in college, and I happen to be studying the theory behind these amplifiers and components If you care to have a technical conversation about low pass, high pass, band pass or band reject rilter design, just say the word.......time for a litte Fourier Series fun
