Driving w/o seatbelts is dangerous - no doubt. Driving fast is dangerous and driving slow is dangerous too. Driving is dangerous PERIOD. One could get killed even wearing seatbelts. One can get killed having all them airbags including side impact ones. One can get killed at someone's fault - even if his/her driving skills are impeccable. Young drivers not having enough experience are in a more significant danger. Old drivers lacking necessary coordination skills are in a big danger too.
My entire point was different - working in a trauma center I have to x-ray car accident victims ten times a day, but never ever it occurs to me to blame the drivers themselves for what happened to them. If we don't have compassion seeing 2 underage kids getting killed/injured - I rest my case....
