I just replaced the battery on my 98 V6 2.5L DOHC and the battery came with a vent on top, between the posts and an adapter and hose if needed. I then noticed that there is a hose that is clamped onto the battery hold down bar near where the vent on the battery is located. This hose is not attached to anything on this end and only extends about one inch past the attachment point and then it turns 90 degrees down for about an inch.
Is this hose supposed to connect to the battery vent or what is this hose for?
Does anyone else see this hose on their vehicle and is it attached to anything by the battery?
The other end is attached to a metal case that appears may be part of the crankcase but I am not sure.

Welcome onboard.

Existing hose is a vent for the transmission, do not connect to battery vent.

That is the area the other end is connected to but I thought it was odd that it vented right between the battery and the air filter.
I guess the battery simply vents to the engine compartment just like the old wet cells did seperately, cell by cell. I thought maybe this was a new emission type deal but it didn't really make sense.
