I hear what you're saying, and yet, BAT still serves Merkur and Fiesta enthusiasts, because it fits with their business plan and "core competency" of using their connections to acquire european parts for US Cars.
There are quite a few people taking care of Merkur owners, actually, and let's face it. They're just Fords.
Yes, some vendors will drop off, and reallocate resources to "the next big thing." Others will remain to occupy the niche. Different competitive strategies.
