Cost wise: core motor, build it up ( basic headers, cam, mild porting (or new heads if i can afford it), bigger cam, new intake, etc ); buy a clutch, bellhousing, tranny, shifter, clutch linkage, headers, exhaust, driveshaft, and rear; fabricate and weld-in a new rear suspension, motormounts, a new firewall, and a new trans/driveshaft tunnel.
Thats what I am looking at.

I think it can be done, but I do think you would want to reinforce the chassis quite a bit, our cars are a bit on the flimsey side as is, and there is not a lot of structural support on the rear section of the car. Good luck!

of course it can be done. there are 2 things required before you can accomplish the impossible: Money and Knowledge. once you have those, you can do anything. if you are in uncharted territory (as this would be) then use your money to buy more knowledge

I am a executive programmer for microsoft.
lol yea now these numbers have been put out after the fact, I originally went into considering this when I thought it would be 3 to 4 thousand max. But now it is not looking that way and I am considering going with that Protege 5. Realistic, its looking to upwards of 8k perhaps more.
For something that MIGHT work!
