Couple cheap things to check...
Air filter.
Clean the MAF sensor.
Use some electronics cleaner to spray it out GENTLY.
Clean the IAC valve - might be stuck wide open.
Some TB cleaner then a shot of Silicone lube worked for me.
Next, check the coil pack - the Haynes manual has a proceedure & specs. You can pick up a multimeter for less than $10 if you don't have one.
Pick up some new plug wires & fresh plugs.
Find a CEGer in your area & offer to buy the beer this weekend if they help you troubleshoot.
