Another possibility is the favtory security system. Mine did that this spring....just did exactly like yours. Did the secuitry light flash on b4 it died? or become solid? If so, get the transponder checked out and soon, or else if it is that and you dont get it fixed...youre gonna have to get a new CPU also...cause it'll fry it!! But take it to the mercury dealership...not ford. They couldnt find the problem but mercury did. Sad huh...
