Contour Enthusiasts Group Archives Forums General Troubleshooting 96 GL leaking like a siv!!

I have a 96 GL 2.5 auto that is leaking oil like crazy one leak is from the passenger side of the motor and one is from the drivers side of the motor and one is right in the middle. I have 108k on it and do not want to sink a lot of cash into the car. Does any one have any ideas how much it costs or how difficult it is to replace the main seal, oil pan gasket and any other seals underneath that may be shot? I recently replaced the water pump and the leaks have gotten worse.

OK I did a huge search, and have not found an answer to my question. I know someone probably has dealt with the same issue. Any help or info on cost or self repair would be greatly appreciated.

do you want to do it yourself or have someone else do it? they arent difficult...but need mor info.

I would not mind doing it myself unless I need a bunch of specialized tools. I just need to know what kids of things are involved as far a do it yourself repair is involved against how much it would cost to have someone do the repair. I have done quite a few repairs on this car myself, but nothing that involves moving the engine or transmission. Anyhelp or ideas you can give me would help.

well im not an expert on the duratec. but the oil pan gasket/seal is not difficult. nor are the valve covers. if you had a zetec i would be of more help...
