Has anyone on here with a non-SVT, go to a site such as CTAmotorsports and buy and upgrade to the svt upper and lower intakes???? I may be doing this very soon like with-in days if I get good reports and I wanted to know how much the other stuff needed such as 65mm throttle and everything costed? All information is welcomed and appreciated.

If you get the SVT lower CTA is selling, you're gonna need to get a return fuel system fuel rail and injectors, since your 95 fuel rail is incompatible with that lower (I think - I'm sure someone will come along and correct me if I'm off base), and that lower comes with a return system fuel rail and injectors. The 95s have side feed injectors, and 96 - 98.5/99 (somewhere) have return top feed injectors. 99 (some) and 2000 have returnless injectors and a different fuel pump controlled by the PCM, which your EEC-IV can't do.

This is rare for me, but I recommend the SHO Shop 63mm TB. It is a direct bolt on for an SVT, and only a few tricks needed to use TC if you have it. It is a bored out 60mm/SVT TB and the throttle plate is what is called "optimized" here on CEG (plate filed down, countersunk screws, etc). Sells for $240 plus core charge (SVT TB, which you don't have and I'm not sure if SHO Shop would take a regular Duratec TB). Not cheap, but it is a bolt on and using a 65mm TB from a Mustang requires significant modding to work. However, without the use of some sort of A/F adjustment (MAF Optimizer, S-AFC, chip programmed for the bigger TB), many people were seeing power losses by upping their TB to as big as a 65mm Mustang TB, even on SVTs that came with 60mm from the factory.

The secondary throttle plate control is different as well. Ray McNary had a late lower intake that he had modified ready to install, but didn't get to it before he passed away. He modified the external linkage to make it compatable with his 95. You may find some info about this if you do a search on the Contour-L list archives.

There is a chance that you could use your old injectors and fuel rail with the new lower intake manifold, but I'm not sure. Evidently you can use that lower on a 98 by swaping the injectors and fuel rail if I remember correctly from what others have posted. I'm sure that someone else will speak up here.

The SVT throttle body is 60 mm and is commonly used on earlier Duratecs, with and without the manifolds. The non SVT throttle body is 54 mm.

Nope - can't do it unfortunately. The sealing of the side feeds to lower manifold is a lot different - there is an "egg shaped" depression on the lower they sit in to.

If you do the swap, you'll have to:

switch to new top feed injectors (the ones on the lower from Chris won't work as they have the oval connector)

get a new fuel rail ($60 for a 98 top feed rail) you'll have to also extend (ie cut and run new fuel injector hose or gas line in the engine bay) the fuel lines about 3-4 inches to reach the new rail.

Fix the 2ndary linkage that Jim mentioned Ray had done.

If you really want a larger lower, it may be easier just to pull your lower and have Brad Hall or a machine shop optimize it for you. I have my old 97 side feed lower just laying around if you'd like to buy it to send out for work, but you'd still have to work the 2ndary linkage as 95 was the only year with vacum 2ndarys.

The 60mm TB is only used on the SVT.

The same casting is used on the 3L Duratec's (Taurus), but the machining is completely different and does not work.

All Non-SVT's used a 54mm TB.

I guess I could have made myself more clear. I ment that the SVT throttle body was a common modification on non SVT's, not that the factory ever installed them on non SVT's. Sorry about any confusion.
