Car feels very peppy and responsive (2.0L automatic) with the O/D locked out (3000 RPM at 50 mph). It's a pleasure to drive, but performance sucks when the car is in overdrive (2500 RPM at 65 mph). A slight incline on the highway (an overpass for instance) requires much more throttle and/or the tranny downshifts.

It's though to keep an even speed on the highway while in overdrive (cruise control not working; another issue to be resolved later). Is this normal? Is the car performing as it should? I could always leave the O/D locked out but that will certainly increase engine and transmission wear in the long-term.

Being a 95, have you checked to see if the cat recall was done?

Have not checked on that particular recall but will be going to Ford dealer soon for two extended warranty issues (suspension and wiring harness) I found in the car papers. While there I'll check on the cat. Anyway, today being a holiday, it was easy to hold a constant 70 mph on the highway. BIG difference (duh) at the higher speed. Just like motocross. When in doubt go faster!
