I am having a ticking sound in my engine at first we thought it was the timing belt but that didn't fix it sounds more like its coming from a feul injector The mechanic assured me it was not a piston but any ideas on what it could be any suggestions would help,

could very well be a bad injector.
could also be vale train components.

Could be. But...

How loud is it? Zetecs are notorious for loud valve trains. You'd be hard pressed to find one that doesn't have some ticking (nearly any 4cyl engine has some ticking, but zetecs are worse). I've heard a newer focus that had ticking louder than my 95k mile engine. It just depends on the engine. If it's something that's been there since you've owned the car and/or it's not EXTREMELY loud, then I wouldn't be worried. I would run some injector cleaner through though.

LOL, probably the only time the dealer wasn't lying to you.

newer zetecs don't use hydralic liters like the older ones like ours, thats one reason they are louder

Could be the Timing Belt Cover. There is a fix from Ford for this. Made my ticking sound go away.

I agree on the lifters. Only way I was able to quiet that down was to go to 5w30 oil. Tried all kinds of things. Used to not do the oil myself (okay, I know, but know my car loves me!) and when the idiots would put 10w30 or 10w40 in it would get worse. The Zetec is real efficient at getting that light oil up into the lifters.

Hope it helps.

It should be efficient at it, 5w-30 is what it's supposed to use.
