Well the most radical thing done on a Contour would have to be Matt's (Speed Demon) paint job. Hard to find something like that on any car, let alone a Contour.

Change the tranny fluid NOW!!! You can find most all the information needed over in the tranny forum or my site. To change the fluid, all you have to do is remove a drain plug and let the fluid run out. You will only get around 3.5 - 4 quarts, but that ok for now. As for what to use, most around these parts use Mobil 1 syn. You can also use any good quality Mercon/DexronIII.

Ok, you got the 98.5 model. Yeah I agree with uniysys make sure you get your trany fluid changed asap and the water pump. I hope all of your recalls have been done. Well, I hope you keep enjoying your car  .

The drain and refill method its supoosed to be every 10-15,000 miles. That method only gets about 4-5 quarts of fluid out and the other 5 is in the torque converter. Check the FAQ section and it'll tell ya how to do it. If you dont want to do it that way, take it to a tranny shop and they have a machine that'll pump ut all of the fluid but it's like a 90.00 service though.The second method is supposed to be done every 30K.

NO.
It's the PATS light ... there's a chip in the key that allows that key only to start the car. Any key that doesn't have a chip in it (i.e. unauthorized copies) will not start the car. You can read more about it in your manual. Theft deterrent, but not an alarm or anything.
Mine is a laser. It shoots people that try to jack with my car.
