What manufacturer will replace a blown engine if you only change your oil every 10k miles or so??? Even if it is Mobil 1.
Do we know if he has an extended warrenty? Also how in the heck would Ford know that we went 10K between oil changes anyways? Another thing, if you check some owners manuels, it states to change your oil every 7500K, I've seen it. I stated to go 10K if its all freeway driving, theres NO way in hell that Mobil 1 is going to breakdown and stop doing its job, especially with freeway driving and putting 10K on it. The motor isn't going to blow up doing that Theres been numerous tests done here in the CEG by people who've sent their oil in to be tested and every result has come back showing oil life after "extended stay" in the motor, more proof that letting it stay in ones car isn't going to hurt anything. I think I'm very well qualified to speak about preventive maintence, seeing that I take care of the vans at my work with the following stats:
1. 97 GMC Safari- 470K original motor (oil pump replaced at 100K, that it for opening up the engine) 470K on the original tranny (I'm not BS-ing either ) The radiator lasted 350K and the original w/p went 329K, its all about preventive maintence!
2. 98 GMC Safari- 260K original motor, never been opened up. Transmission was replaced at 80K, 3 different people USED to drive it then Radiator and w/p are still original
About 5 monthes ago I switched the vans over to Valvoline synthetic and that was because of a change in the van route and I can't get the one van over in time to get the oil changed, so it stays in there for one month, which is 6K. I'm sure it go longer, seeing that he drives mostly freeay, but I don't. Maybe when we get the new van I will go 12K/2 monthes on the oil change. In closing I'm not trying to "flame" anyone here, just telling it like it is
