Hi guys. Thanks for taking the time to post with your thoughts and advice.
Yeah, I have an extended warranty. 7 year Premium Care, good to 150,000 kilometres here in Canada.
As you guys suspected, I plan to change the oil out axactly as Ford specifies in their severe duty maintenance schedule - every 5,000 km (3100 miles).
That way, the really can't say anything if the engine blows.
I do realize that modern engine oils can indeed go over 10,000 miles between changes, and maybe just maybe if I were keeping the car many many years would I switch to longer drain intervals with a synthetic once the warranty had run out.
Otherwise, it really is not to my advantage to pay substantially more per oil change at 3000 or so miles with synthetic.
Anyways, I got the dealer to replace the 5W20 the poured into the crankcase last week. The 5W30 dino oil went in Saturday, and will stay in there about 3.5 months or 3,100 miles, whichever comes first!
