Before you cut the end off, figure out which wire goes to the ground of the cig lighter(the tab touching the side of the lighter wall) That would be your 12V ground the other is the positive then, mark then so you know. Then you would just have to find a place to tap into constant 12v positive since a ground can be found everywhere (check the fusebox for the constant)
