What would be the easiest way to hook up a stock svt c.d. player to an amp, after buying the conversion kit. I heard you might have to take off all of the doors, but I would rathe ask someone whose done it.
Thanks for any help, Nomi

to be honest I'm not too familiar with the setup in the svt, but i've done it in other cars. Theirs a unit you can buy that hooks up to the speaker wires on your head unit and it has rca outs on the other end. But from what i've heard the svt uses an amp already so i don't know if this can be done. Personally I can't believe my svt has any sort of an amp in cause this stereo sounds like ass.

Premium sound systems do come with a fairly crappy factory amp, which most bypass quickly in favor of an aftermarket player with at least an internal amp. I'll be tackling a manual switch for the antennae along with the CEG foglight rewire this week, but I'm in no way an expert on the subject, so unless I stumble on something I'll doubt anything more would be of much help.

What conversion kit is this?
The easiest way to install an amp with the stock HU is to use the high level inputs on the amp.

theres a kit you can get to hook up RCA outputs on the factroy radio. Usually you have to wire them up to speakers though, but It would be hard because we dont have them in the rear deck, instead in the door panels (freakin ford).

Personally I would get an aftermarket stereo first. Your stock radio will not hold up as well as an aftermarket because most aftermarket radios have a higher power rating. Aftermarket will make you interior speakers sound better and the amp will be used to full potential (a few extras are needed; wiring, etc). I've seen radios cut off (low power aftermarket & stock) when the volume was turned up when hooked to amp. You would be better off getting an aftermarket before getting an amp.

If everyone could afford $500-1000 amps, it's be a boring world. Deiguy, If the purpose for adding an amp is for subs, then look for an amp with high level inputs. If the purpose for the amp is to drive replacement door speakers, I'd invest in a head unit instead. I think you'd be more pleased with the sounds quality with even the modest 22w head units put out. I meant high quality as brand name thats better than jensen and legacy thats all. It wasnt the cost of them, but rather the quality!

My point was not quite to imply that everything quality costs at least $500. My mistake. However, I have all of $250 invested in my setup and no one that has lsitened to it has said, "Damn that sounds like ass." No, I am not using the high level inputs, but my amp has them. Like I said, not everyone has the same requirements for a sounds system.
