That's why when smith assimilated neo at the end, he said 'it's a trick' and then the machine that neo was 'plugged' into sent the virus or whatever it was through neo in order to infect and destroy all the smiths.

IHMO, those who are knocking it just don't get it. If you don't see the deeper meanings, you haven't read enough literature or aren't paying enough attention.
I certainly didn't catch everything the first time. There's a lot in there.

I absolutely agree, saw it last night, and it was awesome. Having Neo and Trinity die were necessary consequences for the matrix to exist, and for everything to coexist, and if you didn't catch the martyr thing with Neo's burnt eyes (and giving his life for the welfare of man kind), then you're just slow. . .

Or the fact that Trinity finally saw sunlight (the big white light) just before she died... but Neo, who couldn't see the light, survived.

Saw it last night. I enjoyed it. Not as good as the first, but better than the second. It kind of left you hanging as to what the "end" of the war really meant to everyday life. I think the mix of philosophy/theology is ineresting. There are a lot of strong christian ideas, but a lot of stuff doesn't fit. I think it is kind of like listening to Creed, the ideas are there, but I enjoy it the most when I don't try to get too much out of it.

I really liked how the trilogy played out.
In part one we were introduced to the Matrix and all the ramifications that go along with a "fake" world. It was more personal and character driven.
In part two we see how powerful "The One" is as he can basically do anything inside the Matrix. The story becomes more epic as we are introduced to Zion and the Architect. But, Neo still doesn't know what he is supposed to do. The Architect tells him what to do, but Neo makes a choice not to do it. The movie also ends with the the possibility that the prophecy is a lie.
In Revolutions, Neo chooses what he has to do to save mankind. He becomes a Martyr by bargaining with the machines. His life for humanity - Smith's destruction to save the machines. He fulfills the prophecy even though the Architect said it was a lie in Reloaded. So all along Morpheous was on the right path and choice turned out to be a huge component of it. Something the machines didn't understand.
Kind of long but......

If you go back to what the Oracle said, it makes more sense: she told Neo that Smith was his negative opposite, and that the Architect's job was to keep the equation balanced. Neo and Smith together balanced the equation, so when Smith assimilated Neo, the equation was unbalanced, allowing the Matrix to re-balance itself by destroying Smith.

but isnt neo not the one, i mean he is the one who saved humanity but i think the girl, "the last exile" is the one. Since she does have power. They show it towards the end of the movie.

Nailed it right there. After seeing it last night it seemed like the Bible was rewritten for a modern twist.
Neo=Jesus and Smith=Satan. Enough people believed in Neo (Jesus) so that he was able to save the world i.e. wash our sins. We all have choices in life and their is no certainty in it as well. It's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. I thought the CGI was incredible. Didn't look cartoony like some scenes in the 2nd one. I was on edge the entire time. Loved the arse kicking general in his robot suit. I was a little disappointed but I'm hard to please. I think it was inevitable to be let down no matter what an out come just because the first installment was so ground breaking.

so i finally saw it. neo is definitly dead. he is the one who originally freed smith and its his opposite. since smith was no longer constrained by the matrix (cause neo freed him in the first one) he had to somehow become part of it again so the machines could delete him. neo was plugged in, and by smith taking neo, he therefore became part of the matrix again, which lead to his deletion by the machines. and since smith killed neo in the matrix, he died outside of it.
i think it was a great movie, but you really have to think about it to understand. i didnt like it that much when i walked out, but the more i thought about it the more i understood and the more i like it.
the special effects were AMAZING in this movie.
also for those of you wishing there were more scenes in the matrix (like actually plugged into the matrix), it would be pointless b.c everyone in the matrix was eventually turned into smiths.
